About Dr. Hornstein
Dr. Hornstein holds a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley, a Bachelor of Science with Honors from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego. He completed an internship in Low Vision at the Western Blind Rehabilitation Center, Palo Alto V.A. Hospital. He is certified by the State Board of Optometry in the treatment and management of ocular disease and separately in the treatment and management of glaucoma. His clinical competence was further recognized by achieving the status of Diplomate, American Board of Optometry.
In December 2019 Dr. Hornstein was selected for the second year in a row by the readers of the Glendale News Press / Los Angeles Times as “Best Optometrist” in Glendale. In September 2013 he was similarly honored by the Crescenta Valley Weekly as “The Finest Optometrist.”
He welcomes adults and children of all ages and is happy to provide contact lenses, glasses, laser and refractive surgery consultations and co-management, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment and dry eye therapy. He works closely with a network of excellent doctors and will guide you to the proper specialist should you need one.
Dr. Hornstein is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Los Angeles County Optometric Society.
He and his wife (who helps out with office administration) have one son who in 2018 completed his PhD in statistics. Dr. Hornstein enjoys playing the guitar, going on local hikes with family and friends, and occasional sailing.
